Plans and entitlements
A plan belongs to a property — not to your organization and not to you. A feature is either in that property's plan or it is not, and when it is not you get an Upgrade card instead of the screen. That is a different thing from your role, and this page tells you which of the two is in your way.
The plan sits on the property#
This is the sentence that matters most: a plan attaches to a property — not to the organization, not to the account, not to the user.
So one person can hold several properties, some Free and some Premium, and the menu changes as they move between them, because what is shown follows the property selected in the picker at the top of the console. Switch property and the menu switches with it.
There are two plans, Free and Premium. A property that has never been given a plan is Free.
The feature catalog#
AdPix keeps a list of gateable features. For each one, four things are set: whether it is in the Free plan, whether it is in the Premium plan, whether it still shows in the menu when it is not available, and whether its global kill switch is on.
Anything not on that list is always available. The home screen, the events report, Admin and all of property settings are in that category: no plan stands in front of them.
The seven that are premium by default#
| Menu entry | What it does |
|---|---|
| Marketing Mix (MMM) | a statistical model of each channel's contribution to sales |
| Lift (incrementality) | measuring the real effect of a budget or campaign change |
| Fraud Protection | invalid-traffic detection and wasted ad spend |
| Heatmaps | clicks, scrolls and movement on your real pages |
| Reports & Explore | free-form reports built from your own dimensions and metrics |
| Library | keeping and sharing the reports you built |
| Audiences | defining user groups and pushing them to external destinations |
The twelve that ship in Free#
Realtime overview and the realtime screens, Acquisition overview, Traffic acquisition, Engagement, E-commerce, Funnel, Demographics, Tech, Path, Segment overlap, Cookie consent and Alerts.
These are on the catalog too — meaning AdPix can repackage them — but by default they are open on both plans.
Each feature's membership of each plan is configurable. AdPix can add a feature to the Free plan or take one out of it. The tables above are the defaults; what holds for your property is what you actually see in your own menu.
What you see when a feature is not in the plan#
There are three distinct states, and telling them apart is the whole trick:
| In the menu | Meaning |
|---|---|
| The entry with a solid star | a premium feature, and your property has it |
| The entry with a dimmed star | a premium feature your property does not have; hovering shows "Premium — not included in this property's plan" |
| The entry is not there at all | either AdPix does not advertise it, or it is globally off, or your role does not reach it |
Selecting a locked entry still opens the page, but instead of the report it renders the Upgrade card. Its heading carries the feature's own name — "Heatmaps is a premium feature" — and underneath it reads "This property is on the Free plan. Upgrade to unlock Heatmaps and other premium features." with a single Upgrade plan button.
Typing the address straight into the browser gives you the same card. Going around the menu does not help: the server runs the same check and refuses the data behind a premium feature.
This is the most common misunderstanding: someone with two properties sees a screen on one and not on the other and concludes their account is broken. The account is fine; the plans differ. Before anything else, look at the picker at the top of the console.
This is not the same as your role#
Two separate things decide what you see:
- Your role says what you are allowed to do — read reports, build segments, edit settings, manage access.
- The plan says which features this property has at all.
Every combination happens:
| Feature | Your role | Property plan | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fraud Protection | Viewer | Premium | open; you can read it |
| Fraud Protection | Org owner | Free | the Upgrade card |
| Audiences | Viewer | Premium | not in the menu at all — this one is about the role |
| Audiences | Marketer | Premium | open |
A simple test: dimmed with a star means the plan; absent altogether usually means the role. Roles are covered in Roles and capabilities.
The three entries most often confused: Audiences and Alerts need Marketer at minimum, Library needs Analyst, and Cookie consent needs Editor. Below those levels the entry is not rendered — premium property or not.
AdPix platform administrators are always entitled#
AdPix operators reach every enabled feature regardless of a property's plan. So if a support call shows a screen opening for them and not for you, that is not a contradiction, and it says nothing about your plan.
The one exception is the global kill switch: a feature AdPix has turned off globally opens for nobody, AdPix platform administrators included. In that state the entry disappears from everybody's menu.
Changing a plan#
AdPix assigns each property's plan. The console has no billing page and no self-serve purchase, and the Upgrade plan button only returns you to Admin. To upgrade or downgrade a property, contact AdPix.
A plan change takes effect straight away: the menu updates on the next page load, and newly opened screens return data immediately. No data is deleted by a plan change and none is reconstructed either — the analytical features work on the events that were already collected. The exception is anything that needs its own collection: heatmaps record nothing until they are switched on for the data stream, so after an upgrade they still show no history.
A property's plan change is written into that property's history; look for the plan.property.update action, described in Change history and Trash.

Frequently asked questions#
Why is this feature greyed out?
Because the active property's plan does not include it. The star next to a menu entry means the feature is premium, and a dimmed star means this property's plan does not cover it. Check the property picker at the top of the console first — if you also own a premium property, the same feature is open there.
Why does a colleague see a screen that is not even in my menu?
Greyed out is the plan; missing entirely is usually the role. Audiences and Alerts need Marketer at minimum, Library needs Analyst, and Cookie consent needs Editor. Below those levels the entry is not rendered at all.
Can I change a property's plan myself?
No. AdPix assigns each property's plan, and the console has no checkout or self-serve purchase. The Upgrade plan button simply takes you to Admin; to actually change a plan, contact AdPix.
An AdPix operator opens the same screen — so why is it closed for us?
AdPix platform administrators are entitled to every enabled feature regardless of a property's plan. An operator seeing a screen tells you nothing about your plan.
