# Tracked links

Tracked links give you a short link like xen.ir/2382 for SMS, Telegram, Instagram, influencers and print. Each link counts its clicks, follows the visitor onto your website and shows what they bought.

## What tracked links do

The **Tracked links** page is in the **Links** menu (`/links`). You can make three kinds of link:

| Kind | Example | Counts clicks | Use it for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Short | `xen.ir/2382` | Yes | SMS, print, saying it on the phone |
| Long | `xen.ir/2382/yalda-sale` | Yes | Places where people should see where it goes |
| Direct | your page's address with `utm_*` | No | Places where you don't want a redirect |

Short and long links open through xen.ir. xen.ir records the click and sends the visitor straight to your page. The data stream on your page records the landing, and the landing is credited to the same link, even when the campaign tags are not in the address.

## Create a link

1. On **Tracked links**, select **New link**.
2. Choose the type and give the link a name.
3. Enter the destination URL. It must be on your website or one of its subdomains.
4. If you want a specific code, type it in **Custom code**: a free number such as `2382`, or a word such as `yalda` or `یلدا`. Leave it empty for a random four-digit number.
5. Fill in the campaign tags. For SMS, set `utm_medium` to `sms` so visits land in the SMS channel.
6. Select **Create link**, then copy the link or its QR code.

> **A number you can say on the phone**
>
> Codes start at four digits so they are easy to say and type. The leading zero is optional, so `xen.ir/519` is the same as `xen.ir/0519`, and Persian digits work too. Memorable numbers such as `1111` or `1404` are reserved.

## QR code

Every link has a QR code on its page, for all three types. Select **Copy image** and paste it into a catalogue, a document, a chat or a design tool, or select **PNG** or **SVG** to download it, or **Print** for a sheet with the code, the link name and the address. Use SVG for print shops: it stays sharp at any size.

The code is generated each time you open the link, so nothing is stored and it always matches the link as it is now. Short and long links get the strongest error correction, so a code printed small or slightly damaged still scans. A direct link carries all its campaign tags, so its code is denser: print it a little larger.

## Tags in the landing URL

**Add the tags to the landing URL** is on by default, so other tools such as GA4 also see the campaign. Turn it off to keep campaign names out of the address bar; AdPix still credits the visit to the link through its click ID.

## Each link's report

Open a link to see these numbers for the selected date range:

| Metric | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| Clicks | People opening the link; messenger previews and bots are left out |
| Landings | Clicks that reached your page |
| Landing rate | Landings divided by clicks |
| Conversions | Key events in sessions that arrived through this link |
| Revenue | Purchase value from those sessions |
| ROAS | Revenue divided by the cost you recorded for the link |

The page also shows a daily chart and clicks by device, country, where the click came from and hour.

## One link per phone number

For an SMS blast you can give every number its own link. Upload a CSV with the phone number and, optionally, your own customer reference. Each number gets an eight-digit link, and you download the file of links to send from your SMS panel. Afterwards you can see, for each number, whether they clicked, reached the website or bought.

> **Phone numbers are not stored**
>
> AdPix never keeps the number itself; it stores only a hash and a masked form such as `0912***4567`. A click on a phone's link does not tie the visitor to that person, because the SMS may have been forwarded to someone else.

## Cost and CSV import

In a link's **Cost** section, record what you paid for it with a date, and AdPix works out cost per click and ROAS. To make dozens of links at once, select **Import CSV**, download the template, fill it in and create up to 500 links in one go.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why can a short link only point to my own website?

So xen.ir can never become a phishing redirect, a link's destination must be on one of your website's domains or their subdomains. Short links are also only created once your data stream has received data.

### What is the difference between clicks and landings?

A click means someone opened the link. A landing means that click actually reached your page and the data stream ran. The gap between them usually points to a slow page, people leaving early or a connection problem.

### Do Telegram and WhatsApp previews count as clicks?

No. When a messenger builds a link preview, the app itself fetches the link. Those fetches and bots are counted separately and left out of clicks.

### If I change the destination, does a printed link break?

No. The link's code stays the same; only where it goes changes. Every change is recorded in the activity log.
